Note: These housing costs are are effective as of January 1, 2012.
The rent for LaFayette is approximately 465€ per month. Associated with living in LaFayette is a 30€ application fee and a refundable deposit of one month's rent.
------------------------------------------------------------
Residences in France charge a monthly rent and request a deposit for potential damages equivalent to one month rent free of tax , as well as an application fee .
The housing deposit (234.23 euros) and application fee (30 euros) are due by Undergraduate students the first month of class directly to the residence Lafayette by check in Euros.
To facilitate the rents payment and management, GT-L will charge the following housing costs to Undergraduate students housed in the Residence Lafayette on their Bursar accounts:
1. Partial rent of the 1st month of the semester (January in Spring term or August in Fall term calculated on the check-in date of the program)
2. Full rent for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th months of the semester less the amount of the housing subsidy received for these dedicated months. (more details in the Housing Subsidy part below)
3. Rent of the last month (May in Spring term or December in Fall term calculated on the last day of check-out of the program).
The housing deposit and application fee are due the first month of class. Rent is due monthly and must be paid by check (Euros only) directly to the dorm manager. Students will be billed via their Bursar accounts much like the setup at Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
Housing insurance will be purchased upon arrival. Students must sign a housing contract (public liability and fire insurance) and turn it in to the dorm manager. The mandatory dorm insurance is valid for one year. The cost is 50€ (approx. $67.00) and the entire amount is due when the contract is signed.
Students with a resident permit qualify for a housing subsidy. They must complete an online application with the help of the GTL staff. In addition to the dorm application itself, the dorm manager will need the following documents:
- Copy of Birth Certificate
- Copy of First Pages of the Passport
- Copy of VISA
- French Bank Statement, issued when the bank account is opened
- Copy of APL, online application
- One passport photo (preferably in black and white)
- Housing certificate issued by the Dorm Manager
- Copy of the Residence Permit
Note: Students who fail to complete the Housing Subsidy (APL) process will be charged the remaining rent that would typically be covered by the subsidy. The amount will be charged directly to the student's BURSAR account. For more information, please contact Katia Menard.
