Housing

All student housing accommodations are within walking distance of the Georgia Tech-Lorraine building. Typically student housing arrangements are organized as follows:
- Students staying one semester semester are housed in the Résidence La Fayette.
- Students staying multiple semesters are housed in the ALOES dorm.
French students will need to contact the individual dorm managers directly to make housing arrangements. All other students will have housing arrangements made on their behalf by Georgia Tech-Lorraine prior to their arrival.
Residence La Fayette
The Residence La Fayette offers both single and double rooms, each with private bathroom. All rooms come furnished (bed, closet, desk, table, chairs, lamps and shelves), come with telephone and internet outlets, equipped with a kitchenette (hot plates, microwave, and dishwasher), cooking kits (dishes and pans) bedding and linen.
The facility also includes a laundry-room, parking spaces, bicycles storage, and common recreation areas.
NOTE: Each room has free internet access
ALOES offers single rooms with private baths and shared suites (individual bedrooms with shared bathroom and kitchenette). Rooms are fully furnished (bed, desk, chair, desk lamp, closet, nightstand), have telephone and internet outlets, bedding and linen.
The facility also includes a token-operated laundry room, gathering/bar area and TV room.
NOTE: Telephone and internet services are not included. Internet access is available for 10 Euros per month. The Rezo Association (the student association in charge of the student housing network ) arranges the internet setup.
Housing Costs
NOTE: Housing costs are effective through July 31, 2010
Rent
Undergraduates and Graduate Students
- The housing deposit and application fee are due the first week of class. Rent is due monthly and must be paid by check (Euros only) directly to the dorm manager.
NOTE: Students will open a French bank account upon arrival, which will allow them to pay their rent in Euros. The Georgia Tech-Lorraine staff will help students set up an account with BNP Paribas.
Housing Insurance
Upon arrival, all students must sign a housing contract (public liability and fire insurance) and turn it in to the dorm manager. The mandatory dorm insurance is valid for one year. The cost is 37 Euros and the entire amount is due when the contract is signed.
Housing Subsidy (APL)
Students staying more than one semester may qualify for a housing subsidy. They must complete an online application with the help of the GTL staff. In addition to the dorm application itself, the dorm manager will need the following documents:
- Birth Certificate
- Copy of the First Pages of the Passport
- Copy of VISA
- French Bank statement: Relevé d’Identité Bancaire (RIB), issued when your bank account is opened
- Copy of the APL online application
- One Passport Photo (preferably in black and white)
- Housing Certificate issued by the Dorm Manager
NOTE: Students will be charged the non-subsidized rent until all paperwork has been processed and accepted. For additional information regarding subsidized housing, please contact Josyane Roschitz.
