Georgia Tech Lorraine BdE

This program pairs Georgia Tech students with the French students from partner universities. The French students will meet the Georgia Tech Lorraine students while in Metz and help them enjoy their time abroad. In Spring 2012 many of the French students will be studying at Georgia Tech in Atlanta where they can reunite with the the GT student they met in France. This program is a great networking opportunity that can make international friendship. Please sign up using this form.

Reservations have been made for Tuesday night, the 20th of September for laser tag from 20h00 till 23h00 (8pm till 11pm) for 50 people.

The event will cost only 5 Euros for any normal participants, and FREE for anyone who drives to and from the event taking other students with them. We need at least 13 people to drive. The BDE will provide drinks and snacks.

The sign-up will be first come first serve, and the money will be due on the 13th. After the 13th, if they still have not paid, we will open the spot back up to other students, to make sure that no spot goes to waste.

There will be a Picture Superlatives Competion for the upcoming Spring Banquet! Please send your photos to Danielle, at danielle.hannah1@gmail.com, with at least the first 4 items of information:

1. Entry: Do you want the picture entered into the superlatives?
2. Names: Who (if anyone) is the picture?
3. Location: Where was this picture taken?
4. Notable Info: Are there any important buildings, people, etc. pictured?
5. Useful Caption: What does this picture “say?”

There may be a “Wall of Superlatives” in the lounge to showcase the winners!
We hope that future GTL students will keep it going.

There will be a Spring Banquet at Georgia Tech Lorraine, on Wednesday the 27th of April!  The dinner will be in the style of a “potluck,” which means that the only thing necessary to attend is to bring a dish to share! Please bring enough food for at least everyone in your party — so find your favorite recipe and make the full batch!  (Store-bought items are less fun… but totally acceptable.) Fill out the form on this link to register for the event, and you’ll be automatically entered into a raffle/lottery to win one of 10 prizes including a 30 Euro Gift Card to Cora!!!!

The dinner will take place in the student lounge, and seating will begin at 7pm.  During the dinner will be a slide show of photos of everyone’s adventures and travels during the semester!

Also, in past years we have had a talent show, i.e. students performing special talents, skills or songs.  If you are interested in performing at the Spring Banquet, send us an e-mail at gtlbde@gmail.com.  Students who do sign-up to perform will get to go through the dinner line first (well… right after the families with kids)!!!  If you need a guitar, keyboard, or microphone, please e-mail us and we will try to set you up!

The Spring Banquet is a great event in the GT-Lorraine experience and a fantastic way to meet everybody one last time before leaving!

The BDE is ending its series of Tournament Nights this Thursday in the Student Lounge.  Come try your luck and skill and compete for Cora gift card prizes for first, second and third place!

1st place: 30 Euros gift card to Cora

3rd place: 10 Euros gift card to Cora

The FC Metz football (soccer) team is taking on Clermont Foot this *Friday, April 15th* at 8pm (20h00) at Stade Saint-Symphorien in downtown Metz.  The BDE is organizing a trip to see the match.

FC Metz will be fighting to stay in Ligue 2 and Clermont Foot will be vying for a top spot in the league.  Their previous meeting ended in a 1-1 stalemate and both teams are looking for a series win. It is sure to be a great match.

Tickets will be cheap, even for decent seats, so you can all afford to spend a thrilling Friday evening watching Metz take down Clermont!

Tickets will be €2 for non-drivers and FREE for drivers.  Please stop by the PhD office to pay, or pay on Friday before departure.
